European passenger car market posted another month of contraction, the fourth in a row, with -30.3% and 665,001 units sold overall in October.
Looking at the four biggest markets, Italy once more recorded the strongest decline (-35.7%, with 101,015 cars, over 56 thousand less than in October 2020), followed with double digit figures by Germany (-34.9%), France (-30.7%) and Spain (-20.5%).
Ten months into the year, demand for new passenger cars in the EU only increased by 2.2%, totaling nearly 8.2 million units. Among the major national markets, despite the bad results of the last period, only Germany slowed down (-5.2%), while the other three posted growth: Italy +12.7%, with 1,266,629 registrations, about 143 thousand over the same period last year); Spain +5.6%; France +3.1%.
