After four months of growth, during the summer passenger car market declined significantly, posting -23.2% in July and -19.1% in August, counting respectively 823,949 and 622,933 registrations.
All main national markets showed double digit losses: France -35.3% (July) / -15.0% (August); Spain -28.9% / -28.9%; Germany -24.9% / -23.0%; Italy -19.2% / -27.3%.
Eight months into the year, passenger car registrations increased by 11.2%, with 6.8 million units sold all across Europe. Among the four biggest markets, Italy performed the best with +30.9% (with 1,060,182 registrations, about 250 thousand over the same period last year), followed by France (+12.8%), Spain (+12.1%) and Germany (+2.5%).
