With 165,363 registrations in May, demand for new commercial vehicles in EU kept growing, posting big figures (+51.3%) due to the comparison with last year, when sales fell because of the restrictions related to the COVID-19 emergency.
Among the main national markets, Spain recorded the best performance (+89.6%), followed by Italy (51.3%, with 19,464 units, 6.6 thousand more than in May 2020), Germany (+46.4%) and France (+28.4%).
All segments posted significant growth: Heavy Trucks +74.9%; Trucks + 64.6%; LCV +49.6%; Bus & Coaches +18.1%.
Five months into the year, commercial vehicle registrations increased by 43.9%, totaling 838,941 units sold all across Europe. Looking at the four biggest markets, from January to May Italy led the growth (+69.5%, with 92,454 registrations, 37.9 thousand over the same period last year), followed by France (+55.2%), Spain (+51.9%) and Germany (+20.3%).
