The EU commercial vehicle market weakened markedly in the first half of 2025, with new registrations down across vans, trucks and buses as demand was hit by a tough economic backdrop.
In six months, new van registrations fell by 13.2%: Germany posted the steepest decline among the largest markets (−14.7%), followed by France (−12.0%) and Italy (−11.7%), while Spain stood out with an 11.2% increase.
New truck registrations dropped 15.4%, amounting to 155,367 units. All major markets were down: Germany −27.5%; France −18.8%; Spain −13.6%; Italy −13.3%.
Bus registrations declined by 4.4% to 18,123 units. Italy recorded a sharp fall (−24.5%), followed by Spain (−10.7%), France (−8.0%) and Germany (−3.2%).
Diesel remains the first choice among all segments: 82.0% for LCVs, 93.6% for trucks, and 64.7% for buses & coaches.
