The European commercial vehicle market recorded overall growth in the first half of 2026, with positive results across all three major segments: Vans +1.9%, Trucks +9.8% and Bus & Coach +22.7%.
In the van segment, the four largest European markets delivered mixed results. Spain recorded the strongest performance (+7.9%), while registrations declined in Germany (-4.6%), Italy (-4.7%) and France (-2.1%). Overall, EU van registrations reached 742,759 units.
The truck market grew by 9.8%, reaching 171,933 registrations, driven primarily by heavy trucks, which increased by 11.1%, while medium-truck registrations rose by 2.8%. Poland (+25.9%) and Spain (+13.2%) posted the strongest gains among the major markets, followed by Germany (+7.1%) and Italy (+4.0%), while France remained broadly stable.
The Bus & Coach segment saw the strongest expansion, with EU registrations rising by 22.7% to 22,590 units. Italy led the major markets with a remarkable +51.6% increase, followed by Germany and France (+21.6% each). Spain was the only major market to decline (-8.5%), while Poland recorded an impressive +78.0%.
In terms of powertrains, diesel remains dominant across all three segments, accounting for 79.1% of Vans, 92.1% of Trucks and 58.2% of Bus & Coach registrations. Electrically-chargeable vehicles continued to gain ground, reaching 13.2% in Vans, 4.8% in Trucks and 27.7% in Bus & Coach.
