The positive trend continues for the European car market, which in April recorded its third consecutive month of growth with a solid +5.1%, reaching a total of 972,314 registrations.
Among the major markets, Italy delivered an excellent performance (+11.6%, with 155,145 registrations, around 16,000 more than in April 2025), followed by Spain (+8.4%). Germany also posted growth (+2.7%), while France slipped slightly into negative territory (-0.3%).
Since the beginning of the year, a total of 3,794,280 cars have been registered in Europe, representing a 4.2% increase compared to the same period last year. Among the main markets, Italy once again achieved the strongest performance with an encouraging +9.8% (equal to 639,736 vehicles sold, almost 57,000 more than in the first four months of last year), followed by Spain (+7.8%) and Germany (+4.5%). France, on the other hand, declined by 1.6%.
Hybrid vehicles remain the leading choice, accounting for 38.2% of the market, followed by petrol cars (22.5%), electric vehicles (19.7%), plug-in hybrids (9.6%) and diesel cars (7.7%).
