The European car market starts the year with a 2.6% decline, recording a total of 831,201 registrations in January.
With the exception of Spain, which grew by 5.3%, the other major markets slowed down: France -6.2%; Italy -5.8% (with 133,731 units sold, almost 8,300 fewer than in January 2024); Germany -2.8%.
In the first month of the year, hybrid cars were the top choice, accounting for 34.9% of the market, followed by petrol vehicles (29.4%), electric cars (15.0%), and diesel vehicles (10.0%).
