Demand for new passenger cars in the EU kept growing in February (+11.5%), with 802,763 units sold, expanding for the seventh consecutive month.
Looking at the four largest markets, Spain performed the best (+19.2%), followed by Italy (+17.4%, with 130,287 registrations, about 19.3 thousand more compared to one year ago), France (+9.4%) and Germany (+2.8%).
In the first two months of 2023, European passenger car registrations increased by 11.4%, totaling 1,563,015 units overall with good results from all main national markets except for Germany that shows no significant change (Spain +32.1%; Italy +18.2%; France +9.1%).
Considering the fuel types, electric and hybrid cars recorded +39.7% and +22.3% and they now represent respectively +12.1% and 25.5% of the market.
