European commercial vehicle market: vans +11.6%, trucks +20.0%, buses +15.0% in the first half of the year

In the first six months of 2023, van registrations in the EU grew by 11.6%, counting 725,418 units. This depended mainly on the expansion of Spanish and German markets (respectively +26.6% and +15.5%). Italy also posted growth (+9.2%, with 94,490 vehicles registered, nearly 8 thousand more than in the first half of 2022), as well as France, although with modest numbers (+3.6%).

Demand for new trucks increased by 20.0%, with 179,504 units, with double digit gains in all biggest markets: Germany +24.8%; Italy +12.6% (with 15,049 registrations); France +12.3%; Poland +10.8%.

Bus registrations kept growing (+15.0%), totaling 14,781 units, thanks to the performance of the main national markets: Italy +62.6% (with 2,358 registrations, about 900 over the same period last year); Spain +58.7%; Germany +27.8%; France +22.3%.

Considering the different fuel types, diesel is still the first choice in all segments: 83.4% vans; 95.6% trucks; 63.0% buses.
