Commercial vehicle registrations in the EU: -16.4% in October, +14.7% in ten months

European commercial vehicle market posted another negative result in October, with -16.4%, totaling 144,409 units overall.

All main national markets recorded double digit losses: Spain -32.7%; Germany -24.3%; France -23.3%; Italy -22.9% (with 16,050 vehicles sold, about 4.7 thousand less than in October 2020).

Looking at the four segments, Buses & Coaches dropped by 21.9%, followed by LCV with -17.8%, while Truck and Heavy Truck sales went down by respectively 7.5% and 4.5%.

Considering the ten months, demand for new commercial vehicles in Europe increased by 14.7%, mostly as a result of the low base of comparison of the first part of 2020. Among the biggest markets, Italy posted the best performance (+22.2%, with 174,000 registrations, nearly 31.7 thousand over the same period last year), followed by France (+11.8%), Spain (+4.5%) and Germany (+4.3%).
