Commercial vehicle market in the EU: +7.3% in June, +4.7% in six months

Commercial vehicle registrations in the EU grew by 7.3% in June, totaling 247,000 units and marking the third consecutive month of growth. Looking at the main national markets, Spain posted the highest upturn (+9.0%), followed by Germany (+7.2%) and France (+3.2%), while Italy (-1.3%, with 18,489 vehicles sold, 240 less than in June 2017) and UK (-7.7%) contracted.

The monthly positive result was mainly supported by light commercial vehicle registrations (+8.3%), pushed by the good performance of the new member states. Truck and heavy truck segments also posted growth (both +2.3%), while bus and coach sales went down by 3.4%.

In the first semester demand for new commercial vehicles in the EU increased by 4.7%, with 1,282,100 units sold. Six months into the year, registrations grew in Spain (+10.9%), France (+5.0%), Germany (+3.7%) and Italy (+2.1%, with 105,859 units, 2.2 thousand over the same period last year), while UK contracted by 3.5%.
